Do you have fresh water stored in your home, an emergency food supply, a generator, candles, or an evacuation plan? Now is the time to make a plan, before it's too late. If you live in Florida and don't have a plan, you definitely need one. Sit down with your family and work out the details, now! You never know when a hurricane will target our area. Most of the time, you have several days' notice that a storm is approaching. However, storms are unpredictable at best, they change course unexpectedly, and grow stronger overnight. Don't take a predicted storm track for granted, be prepared for extended power outages, flooding, unavailability of food or fresh water, and road closures. You must also prepare for the possibility that Emergency Personnel may not be able to respond to you quickly during a hurricane. In some cases due to flooding, high winds, or other priorities, they may not be able to respond at all until the storm subsides. There are several guides available to help you prepare. Clay County Emergency Management prepared an All Hazards Preparedness Guide (PDF).
Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to view the guides.
