Parks & Recreation Programming

ATTENTION: All events not sponsored through the City must contact Kimberly Thomas, Executive Assistant to fill out a Special Event Application prior to event (clinic, class, festival, organized gathering, etc.) Creating a reservation does not constitute approval of outside events!

All multipurpose fields in Green Cove Springs parks are open to the public. This includes the baseball field, multipurpose field, and basketball court in Vera Francis Hall Park, the soccer field and baseball field by Thomas Hogans Memorial Gym, the basketball court in Augusta Savage Friendship Park, and the beach volleyball court in Spring Park.

Organized athletic associations must submit a safety plan for approval and an updated active insurance policy to the City Manager's office. Documents can be emailed to Executive Assistant Kimberly Thomas.

Future programs for Baseball Training, Basketball Training, and Indoor Soccer are being explored - For more information about Thomas Hogan Gym, email Van Robinson, PT Recreation Supervisor.

Pickleball

PickleballOpen sessions for Pickleball occur every Monday/Wednesday/Saturday from 10 am to noon and on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at Thomas Hogans Memorial Gym. Sessions are open to both beginning and competitive players. Sign-up for each session is on a first-come-first-served basis.

i9 Sports Youth Programs

Children Learning SoccerCity of Green Cove Springs is partnering with i9 Sports to provide outdoor sports programs for children ages 3 to 12 years old. It's currently offering flag football and soccer during April and May 2022 at Vera Francis Hall Park. Parents can enroll their children online.

Beach Volleyball

Beach VolleyballThe City beach volleyball court is located in Spring Park, by the public parking lot. It is open to the public year-round. All interested in using the court must bring their own beach volleyball gear to play.

Kayak / Fishing Piers

Spring Park Kayak LaunchThe city offers kayak launches and fishing piers open to the public at Vera Francis Hall Park and Spring Park. At the back of Vera Francis Hall Park, behind the amphitheater, is a dock that is designed for kayaking and fishing along Governors Creek. Spring Park offers the South Dock Kayak Launch located along the St Johns River at the corner of Spring and Ferris Street and the City Pier, which offers both slips for docking boats and plenty of space for fishing. Both docks at Vera Francis Hall Park and Spring Park are open sunrise to sunset every day of the week.

Basketball / Open Gym

BasketballOpen play is held from 3 pm to 7 pm every day at Thomas Hogans Memorial Gym. This is open to anyone at any skill level to play.
