Rookery Subdivision
Description
Installation of electrical infrastructure in the new Rookery Development.
Cost
TBD - contractor pays $2,600 per lot to the City for infrastructure costs.
Progress
The City has completed Phase 1 of the project, which included setting all transformers, pulling cable, and terminating connections. Also installed all secondary road crossings and connected them to secondary boxes in preparation for future home construction.
Phase 2A is now underway. This phase focuses on the main road through the subdivision, running from CR 15A to US 17. Work is currently about 50% complete. Work includes pulling six sets of cables along the main road—these will not only power the subdivision but also support an express feeder to US 17. The DR Horton contractor is nearing completion of the remaining conduit system, which will allow this work to continue.
Our team has worked closely with private electricians on site by opening transformers and secondary boxes so they could pull secondary cable to new homes that have passed final inspection.
Crews have begun pulling cable, setting transformers, and installing secondary cable to pedestal boxes along the subdivision’s side roads.
October update: Work on this phase is now nearly complete, with the contractor’s portion finished. This stage included pulling six sets of cables along the main road to supply power to the subdivision and establish an express feeder to US 17. Crews have now begun work on Section 2B, which involves pulling additional cable and setting transformers. Once that work is complete, we’ll return to terminate all transformers and splice boxes to wrap up the phase.
November and December update: Work on Phase 2B has been completed. This phase included the installation of 1/0 conductor to serve a sewer lift station and support future townhome development. Crews installed approximately 6,000 feet of cable, set multiple transformers, and completed all elbow terminations to energize the system. In addition, crews installed 2/0 URD secondary cable for a new streetlight circuit. Transformer terminations for the streetlights will be completed soon.
