In the 1800s, Green Cove Springs, Florida, was known as the "Saratoga of the South". It was a popular riverboat destination for Northerners seeking a warm resort and medicinal spring waters, earning it the title of the "resort capital" of the era. Green Cove Springs was noted for the healthful qualities of its famous spring and for hotels and boarding houses said to rival the finest to be found in northern resorts.
Four of our beautiful hotels/boarding houses have now been marked with ceremonial plagues in our sidewalks. You can visit each location and scan the QR code to teach you more about these treasures of Green Cove Springs.
